Express Entry
Starting your Canadian journey requires the right foundation — and for skilled workers, Express Entry is one of the fastest and most reliable pathways to permanent residency. But it’s not just about filling out forms. Even a small mistake at the profile creation stage can cause delays or refusals later when you receive an invitation to apply (ITA). Since IRCC officers carefully review every detail, your profile must be accurate, complete, and strategic from day one.
Express Entry is not a single program — it is a system that manages multiple immigration pathways depending on your skills, education, and work experience. With Canada now introducing category-based draws targeting professions in health care, STEM, trades, transportation, agriculture, and French-speaking candidates, having the right guidance can make all the difference.
Who Can Apply Through Express Entry?
You may qualify for Express Entry if you are:
- A skilled professional with foreign work experience (Federal Skilled Worker Program – FSW)
- A tradesperson in specialized occupations (Federal Skilled Trades Program – FSTP)
- An individual with at least one year of Canadian work experience (Canadian Experience Class – CEC)
- A candidate who has received a Provincial Nomination (PNP aligned with Express Entry)
For all these programs, your occupation must fall under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
How Express Entry Works
After submitting your profile, you are entered into the Express Entry pool, where you receive a score under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Your CRS score is calculated based on:
- Age
- Education and academic credentials
- Skilled work experience (Canadian and/or foreign)
- Language ability in English and/or French
- Additional adaptability factors such as Canadian study experience, provincial nomination, or family in Canada
Candidates with the highest scores are invited by IRCC during a round of invitations to apply for permanent residence. At this stage, accuracy is critical — one mistake could lead to refusal.
